Completed Bike Art

Here are some of the completed pieces of Bike Art. See the earlier post to check if we have managed to replicate the original work. Let us know what you think in the comments.

Exhaust Experiment

We have again been lucky enough to use a kit from The House of Science. This set of experiments dealt with air pollution. The children loved the hands on nature of the experiments.

Bike Art

We have been busy creating art based on parts of a bike

Step 1 - take a photo of only one part of a bike
Step 2 - print photo of the bike onto the back of a map
Step 3 - carefully cut out the bike and glue onto a plain white sheet of paper
Step 4 - paint

Here are some photos of the process we have been going through

What we are hoping they will look like in the end. I think we are doing well.

The Cay

We are reading a book called The Cay. Its about a young boy and old man stranded on a small cay called Devils Mouth. We had to create a google drawing of the island. After each chapter we had more ideas to put the island. We had time to make these as an activity for reading.

Swim It

We have been going to swimming lessons at the Greerton Pool once a week for hour long lessons with trained swimming coaches.

The background to the art was a portion of a journal story about WW1. we placed wavy brown and black lines over the articles. The children thought these represented the hills of Gallipoli, trenches, sadness, death, and dirt.
The poppies were made from heart shapes and represent the love for the soldiers and our country. the red is a stronger colour than the black.

Our class assembly!

On Friday we had the biggest moment of our school lives-Our class assembly!

First of all we have our presenters Lilly and Connor then we have our other speakers like Oliver,Josh,Charlotte,Jack,Ally and more.

Some people read their writing some people held up their poppy art and the little kids loved when we used the hair dryer to make wind to blow our land yachts across the hall

We had fun organising the assembly and presenting it

Anzac Article - Radio Live

We have been in contact with Lloyd Burr who is a reporter with RadioLive and Media works. He was at Gallipoli during the recent commemorations.
The following article will explain our connection with him.

Lloyd's article

It is so awesome that he made the effort to respond to the children in our class.
