Jump on the letters of the alphabet

Write in chalk

Use your water bottle to squirt the words on the concrete

Reading in the Tent

Silent Reading is so much fun when we read in the tent.

A Gorgeous Summer Afternoon

On a beautiful summer afternoon last week I read our story outside under the shade of a tree while the children drank their cold milk. A lovely way to start the afternoon.

Cocoa loves our Class

Cocoa is feeling right at home with our class. She even came and sat on the couch until playtime yesterday. Having a school cat can be a very calming influence on a class. It's also an excellent way to teach children how to look after animals correctly.

Blue bots using bluetooth

Today we used the tablets and bluetooth to programme our bots. We also tried to follow set paths on some big maps which came with the pack. A lot more problem solving today - and by the teacher too - trying to work out how to do it before I taught the kids.

Go For It

Go For It has started again with a focus on Pass It. Here are a few photos of our session. We had to hold the rugby ball like a W with the index fingers on the seams of the ball.

Robot Fun

We have the House of Science Blue Bots in our class this week. Today we explored how to programme them. We had a challenge to see if the robots could write the letter H.  This involved problem solving for many of the children and working trial and error - persevering until they succeeded.

Our School Values

We are reviewing our school values this term. We talked about what we would like our class to look like, sound like and feel like when we were working in here. We then decided on some guidelines (rules) to help us achieve this type of classroom. We placed these guidelines under the headings of our school values:
Honour Our Heritage
Be Yourself
Aim High
Give it a Go
Be Heard

We have a Tootling Wall in our classroom. Instead of tattling - telling tales, we Tootle - say positive things about each other. The children can come and write positive things about each other on the speech bubbles.

Chambers Champions

These fantastic children have been wonderful role models in our class this week. They have chosen to wear these wrist bands for the day.  They say Ka Pai and Great Role Model.

Will Our Boats Float?

As we are studying Te Moana - The Sea, I thought it would be a good idea to investigate Floating and Sinking. We came up with a whole variety of ideas about why things float and sink. we will be testing our boats in the pool during swimming time next week.
